The studio art department of American University is pleased to introduce MFASTUDIOBERLIN, an interdisciplinary, MFA-level summer program in Berlin, Germany, designed to provide an integrated and residency-like experience for graduate course credit. The 6-week program provides:
-studio and meeting space in partnership with an established and independent artist residency program;
-housing in shared furnished apartments in a central Berlin neighborhood;
-a visiting-artist and studio-visit program focused on the experiences of working artists and active artist organizations in Berlin.
This program has been organized and will be supervised on-site by AU Associate Professor Andy Holtin. Andy has extensive experience working with the arts community in Berlin, through exhibitions, workshops, and previous study abroad courses. He has a thorough knowledge of the city’s many resources for artists, and speaks the language as well.
